Should I get short side bangs? -- hair dresser's opinions would be nice!?

Ok; First of all my hair is really thick; and i have a round face. I really dont wear my hair down but I want to start too. Ive tried side bangs before but not short enough so I always pulled them back. Should I take the chance and get them? Please help;; hair dressers opinions would be nice.

This decision is really your choice.

If you have longer hair I would say go for it as it will make your face appear more elongated than round. If your hair is medium to short (anything at or above the shoulders) I wouldn't recommend it as it's going to make your face appear even more round than it is.

yes

Hmmmm, if they're REALLY thick, probably not.

Wedding hair dresser bailed!!! HELP!!!!!!?

My sister's wedding is THIS saturday...this saturday. Our primary AND secondary hair dressers bailed on us and there is no time to find a new one.

Ideas!!!

Wedding hair dresser bailed!!! HELP!!!!!!?

I've found a wonderful older woman who takes in walk ins, but if I were you I would wair a simple updo, so you don't need to stress about it. You have enough things to worry about...Congrats ...

You can always curl your hair up on your favorite rollers before the big event and then just let the curls cascade down and arrange with your fingers and spray...Your Guy will love whatever you do...Remember he will be waiting at he end of the isle...

Wedding hair dresser bailed!!! HELP!!!!!!?

depends on where you live....most salons take walk ins and Regis Hairstylists are really good, they get trained to do up-dos.

If you can do hair, then start practicing...if you lived near MI I could hook you up.

Wedding hair dresser bailed!!! HELP!!!!!!?

God!!!!! if you can do nothing else go for a pony taile adorned with flowers-the little kind and pulling the hair off the face with a lot of wet look gel!!!!!!!!!!!!

wet look pony tail

congrats on the wedding

Wedding hair dresser bailed!!! HELP!!!!!!?

I'm sure you can find a hairdresser, start by opening up the phone book and start calling, tell them what happened, most stylist will try to squeeze you in, i'm sure you won't have a problem, but start calling now.

Wedding hair dresser bailed!!! HELP!!!!!!?

Firstly, calm down.

Secondly, create your own hair style. Wash, dry and curl or straighten your hair (whatever floats your boat) Try it up and down, your bound to find a style that works. Help each other and add accessories. So long as your hair is glossy, shiny and looks tidy (weddings are not the place for bed-hair) you'll be fine. Or you could always wear a hat!

Thirdly, for any future appointments remember to have three hairdressers on standby, in case the first two bail again...

Hair Dresser bunked up hair.. go back?

should i go back and have her redo it?? I got hair extensions.. they dont look full and nice like they did last time. how do i explain this to her? will she be pissd that i came back? should i just go to a different lady and pay for her to redo it?? will i have to pay the first lady to redo it again?? i was her to take these tracks out and begin again. any hair dressers out there? is it okay to ask her to redo?

Hair Dresser bunked up hair.. go back?

Most places have policies that they will fix hair if you don't like it. Just go and calmly explain your problem with it and I'm sure she'll understand. If she's nice, give her an extra tip. If she's not, ask to speak to her superior and/or demand it be repaired.

Hair Dresser bunked up hair.. go back?

You should go back to the original hair dresser and express your concerns, if she is not willing to fix it free of charge then tell her that is unaccepatable and you will no longer be using her as your hair dresser. I'm sure she will work with you though most hair dresser's do.

Hair Dresser bunked up hair.. go back?

Not a hairdresser but I am a consumer.

If you are not satisfied with a service you have paid for, you have the right to request that it be set right. I've never had extension done but I am sure that it wasn't cheap. You also have the right to demand that it be done again without being charged. But be warned the stylist can refuse to do it at no charge.

If it were me; I'd go back to the salon that you got it done and tell the stylist that you are not happy with the extension and ask her/him to remove them. Ask her/him to redo them and if she/he refuses to redo them, have her/him take them out and if you can afford it; go to a different salon.

There is no excuse for poor customer service and sloppy work. If you bought a scratched DVD wouldn't you take it back? It is the same principle.

Hair Dresser bunked up hair.. go back?

How long ago did she put them in? I get braids done and there is a sign on the mirror that says free repairs will only be done within 3 days of getting it done.. after that you have to pay...

She might pull some crap that they dont look the same because you didnt take care of them or washed them, or that the quality of the hair itself is bad... if she does.. take your business elsewhere.

Hair Dresser bunked up hair.. go back?

yes it is okay to get it redone. you should not have to pay for it again.

Hair Dresser bunked up hair.. go back?

You definetaly go bakc and tell her! I'm a hairdresser and i hate guessing if my clients like their hair or not. I would rather them be honest because EVERYONE likes their hair a different way. Tell her that she did a good job last time and you would like them a little more full. She shouldn't get pissed she should be happy that your honest.

Hair Dresser bunked up hair.. go back?

absolutely-if you paid for it you should get what you want. especially cuz you said she did it correctly last time. as a hairstylist I don't like to see my mistakes in another chair-give her a chance. Hopefully she will apologize and fix it no prob. If she gives you a hard time that's when it's time to switch. A good stylist will bite their tongue even if she thinks your hair looks fine, we are always told to remember "the customer is always right" and she should do it no prob because she doesn't want to lose you as a customer. :)

I really want side swept bangs and I'm not sure if i should get them and what to tell my hair d

I have a round face and long hair that is blonde and very thick. I see people with side swept bangs and they look really good and i want them. Should I get them and if i should what should i tell my hair dresser to do.

I really want side swept bangs and I'm not sure if i should get them and what to tell my hair dresser to do.

Like mostly everybody else says, you should get them. They do, in fact, compliment any face shape! I have them myself, and I love them since I have a big forehead. If you have a small forhead, you may want to reconsider a little bit, or just go to your hairdresser and ask them to see what they think. They usually know what side-swept bangs are, and they can do them for you just how you want. I found out that they look best if (when damp), I dry them using a blowdryer on low heat and a round brush. It gives them a little bit of body and they look better as opposed to being perfectly straight!

Good luck!

I really want side swept bangs and I'm not sure if i should get them and what to tell my hair dresser to do.

I think you should. I have them. They complement every face shape and add spice and uniqueness to a haircut. I would talk to your stylist before hand and see if she knows what they are. Find a picture of the kind you want, and show her it. Be prepared! But she'll probably know what they are because they are becoming quite the rage :)

I really want side swept bangs and I'm not sure if i should get them and what to tell my hair dresser to do.

You answered the first one yourself: if you really want them, get them! I have them, and really like them; besides, if you end up not liking them, you pin them out of the way until they grow out. Look through magazines and find celebs with side swept bangs that you like and think would look good on you: try Ashley Tisdale. Show your hairdresser the picture of how you want them to look, and tell her if you want them any different HOW you want them different: shorter, longer, etc. Best of luck!

I really want side swept bangs and I'm not sure if i should get them and what to tell my hair dresser to do.

It sounds like my hair is very similar to yours and i recently got side swept bangs. I just found a couple pictures of women in a magazine who had the "ssb" with a style that i liked and took it to my hair dresser. She knew exactly what to do and they look great.

The good thing about the "ssb" is that they grow out pretty quickly, so if you dont like it then you楹搑e not left with regular bangs that take forever to grow back out. good luck!

What are the guidelines for holiday season tipping(doorman, mail carrier, hair dresser, ect)?

Every year we have the people in our lives we tip durring the holidays, our doorman, mail carrier, hair dresser, regular waiter or waitress, or any other person we depend on to make our day more comfortable. Considering cash is king, what are the guidelines for tipping? Does it vary from region to region(New York to LA)?

What are the guidelines for holiday season tipping(doorman, mail carrier, hair dresser, ect)?

Really, it's up to you whether you want to tip your hairdresser, etc or not. It's a nice gesture, but not required. Granted, your yard boy will probably work twice as well if he gets a tip, and you're less likely to get spit in your coffee if you are known to be generous.

It is not legal to give postal workers (or other gov officials) money. However, you can get them a gift or other small non-monetary item (like cookies you baked) as long as it does not exceed $20 in value.

What are the guidelines for holiday season tipping(doorman, mail carrier, hair dresser, ect)?

The guidelines are to ignore the guidelines.....seriously. Just do what you can afford. Just because someone on TV says you need to tip your mail carrier 20 bucks and your hairdresser 50 bucks, doesn't mean this is what everyone should do.

We tipped our mail carrier 10 dollars and gave her some cookies. This is what we could afford. I made a nice gift bag with some inexpensive items and a nice note for my hairdresser.

I usually leave a couple of extra dollars tip when I got to a restaurant at this time of year but I don't dine out a lot anyway so it's not extravagant.

Do what you feel comfortable doing. The point isn't the money, it's to say thank you for a year of hard work. Anyone who accepts nothing less than cash as a thank you, is a real jerk in my opinion.

We all have different finanial means. Do what feels comfortable.

What are the guidelines for holiday season tipping(doorman, mail carrier, hair dresser, ect)?

Crazy i heard this on the radio this morning.

During the holiday season, you are supposed to tip twice as much as you usually would tip.

But that's just according to the radio.

What are the guidelines for holiday season tipping(doorman, mail carrier, hair dresser, ect)?

I agree with Jen unless you are someone who is more concerned with impressing. I tip well all year long to hair dresser, etc. so for regulars I just do the same %26amp; also a nice bottle of wine, box of candy, cookies, etc. It's ultimately the thought %26amp; gesture that counts.

What are the guidelines for holiday season tipping(doorman, mail carrier, hair dresser, ect)?

I work in a restaurant, and here's some general pointers:

For people actually conducting the service, 20-25% of the total bill for GOOD service is appropriate. If the service isn't great, less is just fine. The servers understand when they take the job that their salary consists of tips, so undertipping for bad service is never considered rude. For the person who seats you, $5 would make a person's day where I work (the host isn't usually tipped and it's a very casual restaurant). For bartenders, $1-2 per drink is a good rule. I generally apply the 20% criteria to everyone else I tip, and many have acted as if this is above average.

Of course, if you want to tip extra during the holidays, it's always gratefully appreciated and the server will remember you the next time you're in. There are a lot of people that tip less due to finances, and when you're used to making a certain amount it really affects your holiday budget. As always, "tipping" the manager that the employee did an above average job is always a great way to give more without going broke.

Check the local beauty schools. The one I went to allowed you to take part of your courses between your junior and senior years in High School so you got a head start. And practice on everyone who will let you now, so you'll be used to doing hair.

Hair growing help!!?

I useually cut my hair myself but whilst away this weekend I went out and got my hair cut and dyed. The thing is that I totally hate the cut, the dye I can live with [just]. I had quight long hair.... it took 3 years to get that long! The hair dresser said she would only put layers in my hair and i asked her to leave the lengh. However, I know have no layers and have about 4 inches less hair and she thinned it out too [which I didn't want]. But basicly I have wanted my hair to be long for my 16th bday since I was about 14, and my birthday is in may!! I know it's probibly immpossible to make it grow 4 inches in that time but i want to get as much as the lengh back as possible! I can't braide my hair, my school wont allow it, I'm not allowed extentions and I'm a vegan [no meat].

This may sound impossible but please please help, I'm begging!!

Hair growing help!!?

Eat a lot of peanut butter. I'm a vegetarian and I get most of my protein from peanut butter. It's really helped my hair grow out too. So sorry about your haircut.

Hair growing help!!?

hmm okay so keep your hair healthy, try using herbal essences shampoo or redken and dont blow dry it, just let it dry naturally. and try to keep your hair free of any chemicals

also if you use a straightener dont use it as much as you do normally

hope that helped!

Hair growing help!!?

You can benefit from being a vegan in someways here. Eating lots of green/orange veggies/fruits contain betacarotene which is essential to hair growth.

And since hair is mostly protein, make sure you are getting enough in your diet.

Make sure you get your rest! VERY important. [7-9 hours at least]

don't use tight hairstyles that could damage the hair [braids/tight ponytails]

avoid too much fat/sugar/caffeine/alcohol

reduce stress

Massaging your scalp helps

Drink lots of water!

Don't' brush your hair too much and don't brush it when it is wet!

Avoid heat appliance, like straighteners and curlers.

Avoid taking medication/birth control [unless you really have to]

Let your hair airdry/don't use a blowdryer as much!
