Professional hair stylists ...?

Should a professional hairstylest be able to strip dark brown dyed hair to the regrowth color (blondish/verylight brown) if time and money is not a concern for the client ?

I origanallly wanted to get those neat highlights over the top layer of my hair the way the kids are doing it these days, but NOT so perfectly placed or chunky, but my regrowth is coming in and I don't really want to dye it dark any more and I figured a professional would be able to blend the three somehow (the regrowth, old dark hair, and new light highlights) To make a slow progression that eventually will work its way lighter and lighter "over years" to something more resembleing my natural color. This one hair dresser said it may look strange, and I said well then I should I strip my hair to my regrowth and then maybe do highlights, she said it would never be the same color as the regrowth and said I should just cut it, So is she just not confident in her own skills and I should keep looking or what?

There should be someone who can do that for you. You definitely don't have to cut it, but you definitely have to color it and highlight again. Just seek a different salon that doesn't say they have to cut it.

it will go back 3 level only, otherwise you will need bleach and color closest to your natural color and highlights you should be able to get what ever you want

A big hair questions?

So I have a sort of fat head lol. And my hair is extremely thick. But when I straighten it to control the friz, my hair doesnt have any volume or shape. So like Im growing my hair out to donate it in October. By then, my hair will be almost to my butt. So when I get 10 inches cut off, my hair will be like just at or below my shoulders. I almost want my hair with layers and I want it big. Almost like kiki kanibal. But I dont want the same style. So what should I tell my hair dresser?

I had 3 1/2 inch hair. And i went to the hair dresser today and asked for a trim..,, well long story short i now have 1 inch hair. so the original color scheme i had plnned for my hair si no-longer a good idea. Short hair grows faster than longer hair. I suggest waiting 2-3 weeks to let it grow a little, then color your hair as you had originally planned. You don't want to be stuck with the wrong color AND a bad haircut.

how long after getting your color do you wash it? I normally try to make it at least 2 or 3 days before washing it, and only wash it every other day to every third day.... and dont wash your hair the day before you get it colored either, greasier hair seems to hold color better. you may just have hair that is either too dead or too fine to hold color...

Red hair dye fades very quickly. You might try a shade of brown (something with gold undertones), as this might last longer and it will still give you the same effect.

if your hair is naturally dark in shade then you may have to bleach your hair first then apply hair color

You should take vitamins. Stuff for plants is toxic to humans. Oral vitamns will work wonders! I took them and my hair grew like a weed

NO that's not safe! It's a chemical, it could make you really sick. Just get extensions or let your hair grow out. Try prenatal vitamins, it will help your hair grow faster.

If you desperately want long hair, get some extensions. If you have the money, there are really good ones out there. If not, I agree with the others, use vitamins, not Miracle Gro.

my hair use to be really thick and naturally wavy, it was was really pretty... but I did something reallyy stupid... I dyed it black! :(

I was 12 years old, and It was the first time I dyed my hair....the damn hair dresser told my mom it wasnt perminent...We didnt know anything about black hair dye so we believed him.. So when my natural hair started growing out I had to strip the black out.. MAJOR DAMAGE WAS DONE, so I had to go through a lot of chemicals to make it atleast soft again! and had to dye it brown again... and now my hair is really thin and..ugh.

I didn't use any pills or anything to make mine thick again. I just washed it frequently (and kept getting it trimmed every two weeks) And kept my scalp oiled. Hope it works for you like it did for me.

Sounds like you had some really bad damage. You need to really use good conditioners. The ones that say reconstructor or protein. And you need to get the ones that say moisturizing. Get layers, and don't use a lot of heat on your hair unless the conditioner asks for it.Don't put to much tension on your hair, with bands to put it back. Use only the ones with a protective coating, and don't get them tight. Really baby your hair. It will be OK with a little time.

Keep your ends trimmed at least every 4-5 weeks and brush it w/ a soft bristle brush (to get the waves) and also brush w/ any kind of brush to keep soft and for growth. wash your hair every two weeks and if you want to wear your natural curls use leave in conditioner.
