Black Hair Question: Is it safer to texturize or relax my texturized hair?

I'm wearing my hair curly now, but have set up an appointment with my hair dresser this Wednesday for a Kelis cut: http://www.virginmedia.com/microsites/si...

This obviously calls for straight hair and since I have to cut it anyhow, I figure I should relax it, right? I keep hearing that I shouldn't relax my hair since it IS texturized [last month]. Is it a good idea to try and straighten it with a strong texturizer? What are my options?

You just got it textured, so do not go for a straight do for a while. When the texturizer isn't so fresh, it might be better. I did get my hair straightened when I had a texturizer, but the nature of my hair ruined both styles so I think I'll just go natural for the rest of my life.

wow..i have that same exact cut lol!!! i got my hair dresser to do it too :DDD...you have to relax it hun but she has to cut the side off first (design optional) then relax it...but i recommend that you get the design after u relax it like 3 weeks after so it can grow out natural so she can cut it..because when she relaxes it and that stuff gets on ur freshly cut designed hair lol...it burns!!! lol..

but basically..jus get her to cut off the side first..then get it relaxed..then wait a few weeks to get a design :D

hope u enjoy ur cut its aWESoME!!

Apparently Caramel treatments can be used to straighten your hair and they can be used on any type of hair. The ingredients are all natural, so you won't have to worry very much about the chemical damage that relaxers will cause.
