ok so i think i might have lice and i have a hair dressers appointment to get my hair layered and highlighted. im 12 and my mom worked SO hard to get me an appointment with this apparently really big shot hair dresser. i would feel terrible telling my mom that we cannot go through with it because i have lice and doesnt that take like a super long time to take care of? so my question is Do you think that this hairdresser will notice if i have lice and like gross out or will he just go ahead and do my hair anyways???

The hairdresser would definitely notice if you had lice. I would have your mom buy lice products, comb threw your hair to see if she sees any lice or eggs and if she does to start treatment. I think I remember the box saying to use the product for 2 weeks (I don't remember exactly). But I would wash everything you could have come in contact with (sheets, clothing, pillows, towels, anything you can wash). Start right away because lice is just a pain. My sister had it for about a month, but it was nothing short of an infestation on her head. The amount also determines how long you'll need to care for it. If your appointment is a few weeks away (3-4) keep it, but if it's tomorrow, you're gonna have to cancel it. The hairdresser would certainly not appreciate you bringing in lice to his/her salon and potentially spreading it to their customers who would probably never go there again.

Comb it a lot and rinse it with mayonnaise and/or dish soap, then comb it a lot again. Then maybe the lice will go away.

When she sees the lice she'll kick you out of the salon, she can't take the chance of passing the lice along to her other customers.
You should do the right thing and tell your mom so she can cancel the appointment.

DON'T GO! Go to walmart, target, where ever and by LICE REMOVER SHAMPOO...use it and then you can go get your hair done! Make sure the lice is gone first tho!!!! Other wise you will spread it to others!!

if you do have lice the hair dressser will not work on you and they will tell you to go see a dactor and come back, they will not touch your hair, lice are very contageous so if you do thave them you need to get that taken care of right away is a serious problem

Tell your mother. You can reschedule your appointment, but it will be your fault if somemone else gets lice because of you.

I have dandruff and the hair dresser doesn't care, she just keeps doing it.

I had a hairdresser look through my hair *very* carefully one time. (I have long hair.) I asked what was going on. He said he'd had someone come in with lice, so now he examines everyone very carefully before he works on them. They got in all of his curlers etc. and really caused a mess. They shut him down for quite a while.
He also said they taught them to examine the clients head for lice before they work on them in cosmetology school.
Have mercy on the hair dresser--and his/her clients... Take care of the lice before you go.

no, sorry, lice iis very contagious...other people can get in within a snap of a fingerr..tell your mom and have her explain it to this hair dresser guy and he'll hopefully understand and reschedule =)

The hairdresser will turn you down. The thing is that lice is highly contagous and the stylist wont want to risk his/her other clients.
But what you should do first is tell your mom! I'm sure she will be willing to help you. You should by the lice shampoo and treat yourself. Then wash all your bedding and clothes that might have come in contact with the lice. Then make sure to get all the eggs out before your appointment by using a lice comb your just your fingers (You will need help with this).
You need to treat this problem immediately even if you dont end up getting our hair cut. It will get worse and even harder to get rid of!

I would personally talk to my mom about the situation and allow her to make the best decision. I would also highly recommend getting checked for lice prior to the appointment. If I was a hairdresser I know I would not want to deal with lice. But that's just me :)

First of all I am sure your mom will understand that you shouldn't go to the hairdressers with lice......and yea, they will notice.
As far as getting rid of it......it doesn't take long, but it is a little expensive. Ask your mom to get you the special shampoo and the stuff to treat all items in your home that could have been infected. You have to wash any sheets or pillow cases and clothes that could have lice in them and soak all the hairbrushes and things like clips and scrunchies that you have used. But don't worry about the hairdresser thing. Getting lice was not your fault, and it dosen't mean you are dirty, it just happens.Especially in girl's your age. I used to get it ALL the time. You can always make another appointment, even if you have to wait a little while to get in again.

if you have lice the best thing for you to do is treat it before going through the embarrasement of the hair dresser telling you they cant do your hair !!! make sure its lice and not dandruff !! And YES the hairdresser will NOTICE !!!
