Blowdrying hair for volume?

I like my hair to be straight, but at the same time I want volume. Especially at my roots. At the salon, they make my hair look gorgeous, full and bouncy at the top.

My hair dresser told me to use a large round brush and some volumizing foam and blow dry my hair in sections to achieve this. But here's the thing-- I am completely awkward at blowdrying my hair this way. I always seem to have hair all over the place and the brush caught it my hair. I'm awful at it. I typically just flip it over, dry it fast, and then straighten the parts that didn't straighten by blowdrying. That doesn't give me the look I want, though.

Any tips on HOW to blow dry you hair to achieve that volume on top?

when you get out of the shower dry your hair with a towel so its damp / wet. then section your hair into a half pony tail and take the brush under your hair and put the blow dryer on the top of your hair and pull both of them down at the same time and repeat untill dry. then take down the wet hair and repeat. it also helps to buy striaghtening moose wich gives it volume.

By using the technique that your stylist told you to do. You know how they got good at doing it? By doing it over and over again. If you keep trying and doing it, eventually you'll be able to do it really well and it won't be an issue.

u should blow-dry ur hair w/ ur head upside down first. just 2 get all the wetness out. that itself will give u volume. then part in sections and put it up w/ clips. blow-dry it like u want. that should help u. i have been blow-drying my hair 4 a while now and the brush sometimes gets stuck in my hair. u might need a bigger brush depending on the length of ur hair.
