Does anyone have any idea how to remove hair spray residue from an oak dresser?

I have not really tried anything, as I don't want to wreck the wood. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Use Murphy Oil Soap (original formula) IF the surface is finished (varnished).....

Mix up a solution based on the instructions on the bottle. Make sure your rag isn't overly wet. When you're done washing dry it with a soft towel and then oil the dresser with lemon oil to replenish the moisture.

It will be just fine. I have cherrywood furniture that I wash this way once a year.

Here's what the bottle of Murphy Oil Soap looks like (upper right hand corner of page). It's made for cleaning wood. You'll find all kinds of wood cleaning tips at the site as well as a store finder....

if its varnished, goo-gone, oil soap and get the chemicals off quickly and thoroughly. If not varnished, just buff it with a soft dry cloth.

Windex, soap and water. Or even try wood cleaner.

There is something wrong with your dresser if it grows so much hair that it has to be sprayed. I'd be checking out that problem first.

Get a Mr. Clean magic eraser - wet it with hot water and wipe away!

Simple solution that works wonders!

Works great on greasy cupboard doors too!

Hi, First of all ,I would never use Murphy's oil soap!On my trash cans maybe. This is what I use,On just about everything,"Easy-Off Oven Cleaner". Not the one in the yellow can, use the non-fume water based, the blue can. You need to get some clean water with a small squirt of dawn dish soap liquid in it,and another container with just plain water.(warm). Use two clean rags, spray on the easy-off, wipe with the soapy water, than the clear water.I'll guaranty this will take it off, swiftly and safely. I've used this for taking nicotine(my parents smoked)off a painting, used it to wash the bathroom walls,(that really works good) clean my artists brushes, and much, much more.I learn ed this from my Dad's sister, she's 92. She also said to try using peroxide to take stains out of material.Good Day!
