How much does a hair dresser get paid on average?

I want to be a hair dresser, what kind of pay do they recieve?

Well, that depends on whether or not you go on commission or hourly, and where you work. if you find a job in a higher end salon you could after min 2 years experience start making 50% commission, or roughly $12-15 dollars an hour. Remember that this industry benefits from tips and the better you get the more money you can add to your annual income. Colour technicians make more money because the cost of the service is usually more.

If you are just starting out, be prepared to make min. wage for your first two years minimum.

Good luck! It can be lucrative, especially if you work from home and build your clientelle.

  1. I am wondering if it would cover the cost of living. I am interested in hair but i would be afraid of making a mistake or something
