Get some scissors and cut your mom's hair off.

No, sorry. I'm actually studying to be a cosmetologist at a vocational school in my town, which takes two years and you graduate with a license, but im the youngest at 16. If you practice anything outside of any school it's against the law..so just wait until your junior year, if your town has a vocational technology center.

And for the heads, they should have some at a local beauty supply for like $30 or so with real hair

Everything you can do helps! You can buy what are called Susie-kins at Sallys. They run about $26, and buy the stand. Otherwise, it's too hard to work with! You can do anything to them you can do with a regular head. Have fun! Also check with your school's vocational program. We have a lot of high school students that go to our beauty school.
