I think it depends on the school you want to go to, But where my mum worked..., You have to have your GED or HSD, If you have your GED you can start at 16..If not you have to be graduated from High School..

that really depends on the state you live in, i am currently going to school for cosmetology and you have to be 17 to get in. i live in nevada and your not allowed to work on clients at a shop until you have 1800 hrs of class time and your license

It doesn't matter how old you are because I started braiding hair in 4th grade and now I'm a part-time stylist (at home) doing friends and family hair! Plus, their a good mannequin hair when it's time to practice on a new style. Just acknowledge your friends and family that your interested in becoming a hair dresser and ask them can you do their hair on a weekly basics!
