I know you specifically asked for japanese hair salon but you also mentioned you wanted something different (so I guess it doesn't have to be japanese). There are hair/beauty salons in china town, which are chinese-run so I believe they will be quite different and chinese. I have never been but have seen them when walking around the chinatown area of Manchester. Let us know what they are like when you go!

ummmm there are not such specialised japnese hair salons abut hair salonsa re there juss ask ur friends or try out loreal store its d best but yeah its not too cheap
